February Tote

I chose the 5-7 items for $149 and received 6 items.  Here’s what I received: If you click on the photos, there’s a small description, but I’ll recap here.  My choice was the skinny off white jeans and navy blouse with tiny white polka dots.  The photo I took with it on turned out blurry and with my back, I… Read more →

Sick :(

Gigi gave me a bit of a scare the past few days.  She first vomited on Thursday, then didn’t vomit again until yesterday (Sunday).  In the interim, she has been very lethargic and has been laying down in different parts of the house than normal, isolating herself.  I have to go searching for her.  Normally she’s right beside me all… Read more →

Nine Days Post-Op

I can’t believe it’s only been a little over a  week since the surgery!  I’m feeling really good ~ even without all the painkillers!  Maybe too good?  I started to wonder if the surgery had really been performed!  The painkillers were causing me a lot of nausea, so I just stopped taking them 6 days after surgery, ignoring all the… Read more →

What Day is it?

Since the surgery my days have been so mixed up!  Anyhow, I didn’t do such a great job of blogging my on-going back problems while in the hospital.  I was seriously so out of it the whole time that I handle simple tasks.   Here’s more of the story.  The hospital staff brought me a pile of papers to sign.… Read more →

12 hours post op

Sorry if this post is a mess.  I’m having a heck of a time typing with 1 finger on my iPad while trying not to lift my head from the pillow. It’s 4:20 am and I’m wide awake since the nurse just had me out of bed and standing for the first time since the surgery. Everthing seems to have… Read more →

Tomorrow is Surgery Day

To say that I’m terrified would be an understatement.  Even thinking about the surgery makes my hands clammy and sweaty.  Yesterday I felt like I was having panic attacks; well, actually I think I was.   I’ve had a lot of surgeries, but nothing as major as this one.  I should stay off the internet, but instead am googling all… Read more →

Yummy!

Here are a couple of meals I’ve prepared over the last week from Hello Fresh.  These arrived the week of the Super Bowl so were more like casual, eat while you watch the Super Bowl meals. Everything was so good!  The ingredients for the barbecue pork sliders even included everything to make the BBQ sauce from scratch, yet the entire… Read more →

“Those are the Cutest Leggings! I Love Them!” said no one. Ever.

YAY!  It’s Friday!  The weekend is here AND my Stitch Fix #7 came!  🙂

IMG_6632

I have to confess, I cheated this week (not the first time).  Stitch Fix sends an email when they ship the fix to let you know it’s on the way.  Once you receive that email, if you log in to your Stitch Fix account and go to checkout, it shows what items are in the fix.  Just the description, no pictures.  I saw that I was getting leggings.  Leggings???  Are you kidding me???  What 50 something-year-old wears leggings?  What person of any age in their right mind wears leggings?  I texted my sister who tried to convince me that leggings can be okay with longer sweaters.  I told her, “Those are the Cutest Leggings! I Love Them!” said no one. Ever.

I opened the box and found 3 casual tops, a scarf and the dreaded leggings.  No dress?  No lace?  I must have gotten a different stylist this time!  Nope.  It’s still Logan.  Ohhhhhhhh….then it hits me like a ton of bricks!  Duh!  I had sent Logan a note after my last fix that I’m going in for back surgery and will laid up for several weeks so comfy, casual clothing would be best for this fix.  I decided I would try the leggings on with the tops and see what I thought.

Okay, so perhaps I was wrong!  The leggings are thick so they don’t show my cottage cheese legs.  With a long top and some boots I actually like them!  I love the Ridge Zipper Detail Cowl Neck Sweater!  It’s super comfy and cute with the zippers on the sleeves.  VERDICT: Keep Both!  I never in a million years would have selected leggings for myself!  Thanks, Logan!

I really like the burgundy Aleah Heathered V-Neck Dolman!  Even with the leggings!  I love the super soft Shannon Plaid Infinity Scarf.  Infinity Scarves are the only scarves I’ll wear anymore.  Love them!  Gigi approves also.  VERDICT: Keep!

The Somers French Terry Top is the least favorite of what I received, but I still really like it!  Comfy and I love the gold dots on it!  Wish it was a little longer, though.  VERDICT: Keep!

Logan nailed it again!  Also sent a nice note:

Super Bowl Snacks!

I decided to make some appetizers to snack on while Ray and I watched the Super Bowl.  Both of the things that I made were actually entrees from my latest Hello Fresh order. I made Pan-Fried Shrimp Cakes with homemade tartar sauce and Butternut Squash with Caramelized Onions Flatbread.  They were both so good!  I took my time making them and… Read more →

Stitch Fix #6

I received my 6th stitch fix a few days ago!  I love getting that box!  Logan was my stylist for the third time.  I love Logan and have requested to have Logan every time!  What I received: Burgundy Skinny Jeans, Polka Dot Sweater, Blue Blouse, Jacket, Blue Dress.

  • Burgundy Skinny Jeans and Polka Dot Blouse

Love the burgundy skinny jeans.  They are very soft and comfortable and have cute zippers at the ankles.  I really like the polka dot sweater, too.  I’m really into polka dots lately and think it looks cute with the burgundy jeans.  VERDICT: Keeping them both!

  • Blue Blouse

I really like the blue blouse with embroidery around the neckline.  I was on the fence about it only because I have a lot of casual tops; however, it goes well with the burgundy jeans and I’m not sure I have many other tops that will.  VERDICT: Keep!

  • Jacket

Okay, I can’t quite figure this jacket out.  It’s soft material and I like the color, but the fit is weird.  It’s an asymmetrical fit which is okay, but there seems to be a lot of excess material at the neck that kind of hangs.  VERDICT: Guilty of being weird.  Going back.

  • Dress

I really wanted this dress to work out.  I like the lace.  It was a pretty bright blue, but I liked it.  I thought it was too dressy for work and church so about the only time I would wear it would be to weddings or a formal dinner.  The problem was it fit a little tight through the chest.  The front had a snap at the cleavage to prevent flashing the world.  Every time I would move my arms, the snap would pop open for all to see.  VERDICT: Guilty of indecent exposure.  Sentence is return to Stitch Fix.

Super Bowl Sunday

Today is the super bowl Sunday.  Ray and I aren’t big sports fans, but it’s always fun to be a part of the energy of the Super Bowl, even if it is just at home with Gigi and Trip.  The teams are the Patriots v. Seahawks.  I think I’ll make some appetizers for us to snack on while we watch… Read more →
